STRATEGI PENGELOLAAN PRIVASI REMAJA PADA ORANG TUA DI INSTAGRAM

Abstract

Masa remaja adalah masa di mana individu menuntut privasi dan mengatur batasan informasi dengan orang tua. Remaja memilah informasi apa saja yang boleh dan tidak boleh dilihat oleh orang tua, tidak hanya di dunia nyata, tetapi juga di media sosial ketika mereka berteman dengan orang tua di media sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis bagaimana strategi pengelolaan privasi yang dilakukan remaja pada orang tua di Instagram. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan wawancara mendalam dengan delapan orang remaja berusia 15-21 tahun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa remaja melakukan strategi pengelolaan privasi pada orang tua mereka di Instagram dengan cara pemilahan topik unggahan dan pemilahan audiens. Pemilahan topik unggahan. berarti remaja memilih membagikan ataupun menyembunyikan unggahan dari orang tua berdasarkan topik-topik tertentu. Sementara itu, pemilahan audiens berarti remaja mengelola kapan suatu unggahan dapat dilihat oleh orang tua dan sebaliknya. Dalam memilah audiens ini, remaja memanfaatkan fitur Instagram yaitu close friends dan hide dan juga finsta atau akun sekunder.
