Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi UHO: Jurnal Penelitian Kajian Ilmu Komunikasi dan Informasi is committed to maintaining the integrity, transparency, and ethical standards of scholarly publishing. The journal takes allegations of research misconduct seriously and follows the principles and guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to, plagiarism, inappropriate use of artificial intelligence, duplicate submissions, citation manipulation, data fabrication and falsification, improper authorship attribution, and redundant publication.
1. Plagiarism
Authors must submit original manuscripts that have not been published or submitted elsewhere. Plagiarism, including unauthorized copying, improper paraphrasing, and the use of others' ideas or findings without appropriate acknowledgment, is strictly prohibited.
All submitted manuscripts undergo similarity screening in accordance with the journal's Plagiarism Issue policy.
2. AI-Generated Content
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in manuscript preparation must comply with the journal's publication ethics standards. AI tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, originality, or integrity of scholarly work.
Authors must transparently disclose substantive AI-assisted contributions to their manuscripts. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, validity, and originality of all submitted content.
Further provisions are outlined in the journal's AI Generated Content policy.
3. Duplicate Submission
Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi UHO must not be under consideration by another journal or have been previously published in substantially the same form.
Authors who develop manuscripts based on previously published research must properly acknowledge the earlier publication and clearly demonstrate the original contribution of the submitted work.
4. Citation Manipulation
Citation manipulation occurs when references are deliberately included to artificially increase citation counts for particular authors, journals, or publications without sufficient scholarly relevance.
Authors, editors, and reviewers must ensure that all citations are relevant, accurate, and appropriately support the arguments presented in the manuscript.
5. Data Fabrication and Falsification
The fabrication or falsification of research data, findings, interview results, observations, statistical analyses, or other research materials is strictly prohibited.
Authors must present research findings accurately and transparently without manipulating, inventing, or intentionally misrepresenting research evidence.
6. Improper Authorship Attribution
All individuals listed as authors must have made substantial scholarly contributions to the research and must approve the final manuscript.
Guest authorship, honorary authorship, and the omission of individuals who qualify for authorship are considered violations of publication ethics.
Further provisions are outlined in the journal's Authorship Criteria policy.
7. Redundant Publication
Redundant publication refers to the publication of substantially overlapping research findings without appropriate acknowledgment, justification, or a meaningful new scholarly contribution.
Authors must avoid unnecessarily dividing research findings into multiple publications when such division does not provide distinct scientific contributions.
8. Handling Allegations of Research Misconduct
All allegations of research misconduct will be evaluated by the Editorial Board in accordance with COPE guidelines.
The journal applies the following procedures:
-
Initial Assessment: The Editorial Board examines the allegation and available supporting evidence.
-
Author Clarification: Authors involved in the allegation are given an opportunity to provide explanations and relevant documentation.
