Plagiarism Policy

Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi UHO: Jurnal Penelitian Kajian Ilmu Komunikasi dan Informasi is committed to maintaining originality and academic integrity in scholarly publications. The journal adopts a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism. All submitted manuscripts are screened using Turnitin to identify textual similarities with previously published works and other available sources.

The journal applies a maximum similarity index of 20% as an initial screening threshold. However, similarity scores are not the sole basis for determining plagiarism. The Editorial Board evaluates the similarity report by considering the sources, context, and extent of textual overlap.

The following criteria are applied during the plagiarism screening process:

  1. Similarity Index ≤ 20%: The manuscript may proceed to editorial evaluation and peer review, provided that no significant plagiarism or improper citation is identified.

  2. Similarity Index > 20%: The manuscript will be returned to the author for revision, including improving paraphrasing, correcting citations, and reducing excessive textual similarities. The revised manuscript must undergo further similarity screening.

  3. Substantial Textual Overlap: Manuscripts containing significant unattributed copying or substantial reproduction of previously published material may be rejected following editorial assessment, regardless of the overall similarity percentage.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their manuscripts and properly acknowledging all referenced sources. The similarity screening process is conducted before peer review to maintain the quality and integrity of articles published in Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi UHO.
